For Schools

In mid-November, we reached out to all schools across the Lower Hutt Valley (based on the Education Counts website) to introduce the Te Awakairangi School Stationery Drive and share its goals. If we missed connecting with you and you’d like to get in touch using the address below, we’d love to hear from you!

How the Drive works

The Te Awakairangi School Stationery Drive is all about community generosity. We collect donations and turn them into complete stationery packs (and backpacks if needed) for students across the Hutt Valley.

How community can help:

  • Donate items – exercise books, pens, pencils, glue sticks, and more. Drop them into collection bins at any Hutt City Library from December.
  • Give financially – our Givealittle page allows us to purchase the most‑needed items and create full packs.

Our impact so far: Since 2023: approx. $20,000 worth of stationery distributed across the Hutt Valley

  • 2023: $5,000 worth of stationery distributed
  • 2024: $7,000 worth of supplies distributed supporting over 100 students
  • 2025: $7,500 worth of supplies distributed = 220 full packs delivered — a 120% increase on the year before!

Why connecting with our schools matters:
Schools know their communities best. By sharing stationery lists and referring students early, you help us plan, raise funds, and ensure every child starts the year equipped and confident.

We work closely with trusted community organisations to make sure resources reach whānau who need them most. This targeted approach keeps the Drive accessible and balances supply with demand.

Together, let’s make 2026 our biggest year yet — and ensure no child in the Hutt Valley starts school without the essentials.

Refer a student

Schools play a vital role in supporting ākonga / students and their whānau. To help us reach those who will benefit most from the Te Awakairangi School Stationery Drive, we’ve set up a simple referral system just for you.

If you know a student or a whānau who could use extra support, please refer them using the link below.

Although packing and distribution won’t happen until late January 2026, we encourage schools to start referrals now. Early information gives us a clearer picture of community needs and helps us source the right items in the right quantities.

There’s no obligation for your school to take part — we know many already have systems or funding in place to provide stationery, which is fantastic. But if you’re able to partner with us, your support ensures every student has the tools they need to begin the school year confident and ready to learn.

Send us your stationery lists

A big part of preparing for the Drive is collecting stationery lists from schools across the Hutt. Last year, we supported students from Wainuiomata to Trentham.

If you’re able to share your school’s stationery lists for 2026, it will be a huge help in making sure we gather the right supplies to meet the needs of our tamariki. Early information allows us to plan, raise funds, and source items more effectively.

Simply email your lists to us using the address in the footer below. Thank you for your support, it truly makes a difference!
